ELEMENTS

Science Elements brings the chemistry lab directly into your own home. Through video, animation, graphics, slides, audio and text, the complexity of the periodic table, the structure of atoms and the effects of radioactivity and decay are all brought to life.

The Periodic Table
All elements can be accessed directly from the full-screen map of the table or viewed in smaller groups. Once an element has been highlighted, you can obtain a list of its properties, a biography of who discovered it, melting and boiling points, uses, animation of its atomic structure and a series of live experiments on video.

Build Your Own Atoms
The powerful Atomic Menu lets you call up an element and click on the atom button to see its atomic structure, build your own atom and add protons, electrons or neutrons. You can look in detail at radioactive emissions, build isotopes, investigate decay and learn about half-life. Finally interactive quizzes offer an entertaining way to test and reinforce your knowledge.

MATERIALS

Science Materials is an illuminating and fully interactive exploration of over 150 materials in everyday use. Thousands of full color photographs and over 70 video clips are combined with animation, text and sound to bring science to life as never before.

An Enormous Resource
The Materials database is divided into different lists grouped according to properties. Each material is then sub-divided into the following categories: History, Occurrence, Extraction, Composition, Production, Applications, General and Other. This is supported by fourteen comprehensive chemical and physical tests which are clearly illustrated with full color photographs and interactive animations.

They present methods, results and conclusions for a wide range of experiments from ion tests to tensile strength. Finally an interactive quiz helps reinforce the concepts explored throughout the disc.
